The Swiss gaming regulator is investigating whether "right-to-buy tokens" sold by FIFA, the global football governing body, in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup complied with gaming regulations, and there have been no allegations of wrongdoing.
The Swiss Federal Gaming Regulatory Commission (Gespa) is assessing whether the tokens, which can be bought, sold and traded on FIFA's non-fungible token (NFT) trading platform, have gambling properties or are conditional purchase rights. Note: FIFA stands for "Fédération Internationale de Football Association" (FIFA).
