Vietnam's deputy finance minister announced at a government press conference on Monday that the number of licenses for cryptocurrency exchange pilot projects will be capped at five, and while companies are preparing systems and communicating with officials initially, the finance ministry has yet to receive any formal applications.
Industry experts have criticised the high capital base requirements and regulatory uncertainty, warning that such policies favour large Financial Institutions Groups at the expense of fintech innovators.
