Priyanka Sachdeva, analyst at Phillip Nova, said in a note that a "structural breakthrough" might be needed to stabilise the gold price, which has broken through $3,900 to a record high and is on track to hit $4,000 more.
Ms Sachdeva believes a slowing global economy, rising fiscal pressures and weak policy will continue to drive demand for safe havens, underpinning the gold rally. However, she notes that a "convincing rise above" $4,000 could require new drivers, such as a sharp global downturn, deeper geopolitical rifts or a clear policy shift by the Federal Reserve. "As markets approach record highs, investors should be prepared for increased volatility." (Kim X)
