Financial services giant Morgan Stanley has published guidance on cryptocurrency allocation in multi-asset portfolios and recommended a "conservative" approach in an October report to investment advisers by the Global Investment Committee (GIC).
Morgan Stanley analysts recommend allocating up to 4% to cryptocurrencies in an "opportunity growth" portfolio, which is designed to achieve higher risk and higher returns.
"While emerging asset classes have experienced excess total returns and volatility declines in recent years, cryptocurrencies are likely to experience higher volatility and higher correlations with other asset classes during periods of macro and market stress," the report notes.
