Social media platform Discord announced that its third-party Client Server provider was hacked, and some customer information was stolen and used to extort from Discord.
The cyber security incident affected some Discord users who had contacted the customer service support team or Trust and Safety team. It involved chat history, real name, username, email address, IP address, transaction history, payment information, the last four digits of the credit card, and included a small number of ID photos used to prove age. Discord immediately revoked the access of the third party involved to the Discord ticket system after discovering the incident. According to preliminary analysis, the unauthorized third party who launched the attack did not have the ability to directly access Discord.
