ECB selects artificial intelligence startups to guard against digital euro fraud

The European Central Bank said on Thursday it had selected a Portuguese start-up focused on artificial intelligence to help prevent fraud in its planned digital euro. The contract with Feedzai, worth up to 237.30 million euros ($278.70 million), is one of several announced by the ECB on Thursday to advance what it sees as a key project to ensure financial autonomy in the euro zone and wean itself off dependence on the United States.
