On October 3rd, according to CNN (CNN), a Senate aide said on Thursday local time that Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren called on the Trump administration to release the September non-farm payrolls report "as scheduled" on Friday in the event of a government shutdown. The Senate Banking Committee aide said employees furloughed at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) told Warren's office that the September labor data has been collected and may be ready for release. In her statement, Warren said, "Without the non-farm payrolls data, the Federal Reserve will not have a comprehensive picture of what it needs to make its interest rate decision this month, which will affect every household across the country." The BLS had said major economic data, including the non-farm payrolls report, would not be released during the shutdown, which would also delay the collection and release of two major inflation reports scheduled for mid-October.
