Consensys founder: Ethereum's future focuses on three core development directions and emphasizes AI integration

On October 2, 2025, at the Token 2049 event, Joseph Lubin, founder and CEO of Consensys and chairperson of SharpLink, proposed that the core priorities for the future development of Ethereum are:
1. Expansion, improve processing efficiency by optimizing the gas ceiling of the main network, and at the same time rely on Layer 2 to share traffic, with the goal of achieving "million-level TPS" to support mainstream applications such as global payment and AI proxy transactions;
Optimize user experience, focus on solving pain points such as complex private key management and large fluctuations in Gas fees, and reduce the threshold for non-technical users;
III. Emphasize basic research and development, prioritize investment in zero-knowledge proof technology to ensure transaction privacy, and upgrade the anti-attack capabilities of the PoS consensus mechanism to prevent transaction rollbacks and catastrophic failures.
In addition, Lubin mentioned the potential for the integration of AI and blockchain, arguing that Ethereum smart contracts can solve the pain point of "unverifiable" AI reasoning results, and AI can help optimize the dynamic adjustment of Ethereum gas fees and the efficiency of consensus node screening; he also called on ecological developers to focus on the needs of the real economy (such as high cost of cross-border remittances, traditional assets on the chain), rather than short-term speculative scenarios, and stressed that Ethereum needs to be decentralized through "vertical (L1 node decentralization) + horizontal (L2 sharding operation) " to build a trust system without intermediaries and promote the reconstruction of the global trust mechanism.
