Trump delays drug tariffs to negotiate drug prices

President Donald Trump last week threatened to impose triple-digit tariffs on drug imports from Wednesday. But the White House now says the tariffs may not need to be implemented. The administration has suspended plans to impose tariffs and is trying to strike deals with big pharma companies - such as the one announced on Tuesday with Pfizer - to avoid raising tariffs on its well-known brand of drugs, according to a White House official. The official referred to remarks by Commerce Secretary J.K. Lutnik at a Pfizer announcement in the Oval Office. Asked when the drug tariffs would take effect, Mr. Lutnik said the administration "will keep the negotiations going until it's done because that's the most important thing for the American people".
