For the first time in nearly seven years, the US federal government has officially "shut down"

On October 1st, due to the US Senate's rejection of bipartisan appropriations bills on September 30th, at 0:1 local time on October 1st, the US federal government has shut down again in the past seven years, hundreds of thousands of federal employees have to face mandatory leave or layoffs, and the services of many federal departments have also been "suspended". On the evening of the 30th local time, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Walter issued a memo instructing government entities to begin implementing their "orderly shutdown" plans. Unaffected departments include the military, law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Postal Service.
