On October 1st, according to the Wall Street Journal, OpenAI is launching a new social media app to challenge TikTok, Google YouTube and Meta. With its AI video generator, users of the new app can generate high definition short videos with audio via text prompts. Users can upload their own short clips and embed them in Sora-generated virtual worlds, simply describing the desired creativity, style and scene. They can also interact with other users, watch and comment on other people's content. The new version of Sora 2 will use a swipe-by-swipe navigation similar to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, showing OpenAI's ambitions on the Silicon Valley AI video track. OpenAI plans to be the first to launch the app by invitation in the United States and Canada through the Apple App Store.
