Trump says Canada should become the "51st state"

US President Donald Trump has reiterated that Canada should be part of the US - an offer that has been strongly rejected and condemned by Canadian leaders. Mr. Trump told senior military officers that Canadian officials had called him a few weeks ago to join the US government's building of the Golden Dome missile defence system. "I said, 'Well, why don't you just join our country? You're the 51st state and you get it all for free,'" Mr. Trump said. "So, I don't know if it made a big difference, but it does make a lot of sense." Mr. Trump added that Canada was going through a "tough time" because of the US tariffs. (Al Jazeera)
