If Congress fails to reach a deal this week to avert a government shutdown, the impact on the dollar is expected to be relatively small, Thu Lan Nguyen, an analyst at Deutsche Bank, said in a note. The shutdown will delay the release of this week's report on the US job market, while an extended shutdown could weigh on the economy. However, "none of these effects are permanent," she said. Data will eventually be released and the economic consequences will be compensated, as they have been in the past. "As a result, the dollar is likely to be relatively unaffected in the recent government shutdown."
