According to the BBC, Chinese woman Zhimin Qian (aka Yadi Zhang) has been convicted in the UK for her involvement in a cryptocurrency scam involving more than 5.50 billion pounds (about 7.40 billion dollars).
The 47-year-old Chinese woman pleaded guilty to illegally obtaining and possessing cryptocurrency, London's Southwark Crown Court announced on Monday. She defrauded more than 128,000 victims and converted the stolen money into bitcoin assets between 2014 and 2017, according to a statement from British police. Police said the case involved a seven-year investigation that spanned multiple jurisdictions.
