Circle Executives Call for Global Stablecoin Regulatory Coordination
2025-09-29 22:43:31
Patrick Hansen, senior director of strategy and policy at Circle, said that stablecoins, as the fastest growing area of digital finance, can only realize cross-border potential with the coordination of national regulations. He pointed out that French President Macron and German Chancellor Merz have proposed cooperation with third countries on crypto asset regulation. The current European Union's MiCA and the US's GENIUS act converge on reserve, transparency and governance standards, but there are differences in the treatment of foreign issuers. He called for greater mutual recognition and cross-border regulatory collaboration between the United States and Europe in the next 12-24 months to avoid market fragmentation and promote stablecoins as the basis for global payments.
