Anthropic on Monday unveiled its Claude 4.5 AI model, which it says enables longer periods of continuous coding and performs better on financial and scientific tasks. The move marks an increase in the company's presence in enterprise AI. The AI start-up, backed by Alphabet and Amazon, is racing rivals to build models that can reliably operate software and perform multi-step tasks, essential for AI agents who can perform tasks on behalf of humans. Mike Krieger, the company's chief product officer, said that in dogfooding, the Sonnet 4.5 model created a web application from scratch, and one customer had an AI chatbot code itself for 30 hours, a significant improvement from the previous 7-hour coding task completed by Claude Opus 4 for another customer.
