Hong Kong's third batch of tokenized bonds may be subscribed to the central bank's digital currency

On September 27th, according to Caixin, according to the data disclosed by Xu Huaizhi, Assistant President (Foreign Affairs) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has issued RMB, Hong Kong dollar, euro and US dollar bonds worth about 386 billion Hong Kong dollars since 2019 through the "Government Sustainable Bond Program" and the "Infrastructure Bond Program". Two batches of tokenized green bonds were successfully issued in February 2023 and February 2024, with a scale of 100 million US dollars and 750 million US dollars respectively. The third batch of tokenized bonds will not only be tokenized on the asset side, but also consider the implementation of the tokenization of the fund side. In view of the early development of Hong Kong's fund side tokenization and the most mature is the central bank digital currency (CBDC), the fund side of this batch of tokenized bonds may be connected to the CBDC subscription.
