Brothers Raymond Garcia, 23, and Isaiah Garcia, 24, were indicted on suspicion of armed kidnapping, Minnesota prosecutors reported on September 25. The two held a family of three at gunpoint for nine hours in Grant City on September 19, forcing the victim to log into a cryptocurrency account to transfer digital assets worth $8 million.
The case led to the cancellation of the local high school homecoming football game. The suspect fled to Texas and was arrested and confessed to the crime on September 22. The brothers are currently facing multiple felony charges including kidnapping, aggravated robbery and burglary. This is another recent vicious crime against cryptocurrency holders in the United States.
