Griffin, founder of Citadel at Castle Securities, said he expects the Fed to cut interest rates again in 2025 as it shifts its focus to the labor market. "I think they will cut rates again this year, two at most, and the Fed is concerned about the labor market because we do see a decline in the number of new jobs," Griffin said. "It's hard to know exactly where we are in the labor market right now, and what we do know is that the U.S. population growth would be much lower without the influx of immigrants, which would reduce our ability to create new jobs," Griffin said. As the founder of a large hedge fund and market-making firm, Griffin has been an advocate for Fed independence. Mr. Griffin also objected to Mr. Trump's proposal for public companies to report financial results on a semi-annual basis rather than quarterly basis, telling CNBC he did not understand the benefits of withholding information from the market.
