According to the Institute of International Finance's Global Debt Monitor, global debt reached a record high of nearly $338 trillion in the second quarter of 2025, and the global debt-to-GDP ratio fell slightly below 324%. Emerging market debt rose by $3.40 trillion, to 242.4% of GDP.
