The Ministry of Commerce announced that the preliminary evidence and information obtained by the Ministry of Commerce show that according to the proposal on adjusting a number of import taxes published in the Mexican "Congressional Gazette" on September 9, 2025, the Mexican government intends to increase the import tariff rate on the products of non-free trade partners such as China. This measure will seriously damage the trade and investment interests of Chinese enterprises. According to the provisions of Articles 36 and 37 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and Articles 12 and 35 of the "Rules for the Investigation of Foreign Trade Barriers", the Ministry of Commerce has decided to start a trade and investment barrier investigation on Mexico's relevant China-related restrictive measures from September 25, 2025.
