On September 25, AML alleged in a federal lawsuit that Athena Bitcoin Inc., a Bitcoin ATM operator, allegedly orchestrated a "fraudulent scheme" to steal the source code of AML Software Inc.'s computers used for Bitcoin ATMs, constituting copyright infringement and illegal misappropriation of trade secrets.
According to a complaint filed in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Athena entered into agreements through a series of transactions with entities to which it knew it was transferring AML source code.
AML said parts of the source code were trade secrets and were known only to developers who had signed non-disclosure agreements.
