According to Cointelegraph, the National Bank of Kazakhstan has announced the launch of a stablecoin pilot project within the framework of its digital asset regulatory sandbox. The newly launched Evo (KZTE) stablecoin is pegged to the Kazakh Tenge and issued by sandbox participant Intebix cryptocurrency exchange and local lender Eurasia Bank, with assistance from Solana and Mastercard.
The stablecoin is based on the Solana blockchain and has been launched in the central bank's regulatory sandbox. Mastercard will be responsible for connecting KZTE with global stablecoin issuers. Intebix founder Talgat Dossanov said this is the first time a central bank has taken an active role in a stablecoin offering.
KZTE is defined as a "national stablecoin" designed to connect crypto innovation with traditional finance, with use cases including expanding the cryptocurrency-fiat channel, supporting cryptocurrency transactions, and crypto card transactions.
The Central Bank of Kazakhstan has joined forces with Solana and Mastercard to launch the Tenge stablecoin Evo (KZTE).
