Nearly three years after the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, court battles continue over its executives and associates. This week, Michelle Bond, the spouse of former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame, will return to court in a criminal case for an evidentiary hearing.
In documents filed Sunday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), Bond's legal team petitioned a federal judge to allow her to testify, despite objections from prosecutors. Prosecutors said Friday that Bond's testimony is unlikely to be related to Salame's plea deal involving campaign finance fraud charges. Salame is currently serving time on charges related to the company's collapse.
Salame's plea deal is at the heart of the Bond case, which involves alleged campaign finance violations. Prosecutors allege that Salame ordered the transfer of $400,000 in FTX-related funds into Bond's campaign account.
