Thai police, in collaboration with the Economic Crime Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department in South Korea, successfully dismantled a $15 million criminal gang that defrauded more than 870 South Korean victims through a variety of scams, including love scams, cryptocurrency fraud, and fake lottery compensation.
Police have arrested 25 members of the "Lungo Company" fraud ring and detained nine core members in Thailand, including the main culprit, awaiting extradition to South Korea in what one expert described as a classic case of "multi-layered money laundering".
