According to the Financial Times, the United Kingdom and the United States have established a "Future Markets Working Group" to explore cooperation in capital markets and digital asset regulation.
Rachel Reeves, UK chancellor of the exchequer, and Scott Bessent, US Treasury secretary, agreed after talks in Downing Street last week to set up the official working group, which will be co-chaired by UK and US Treasury officials and include representatives from both countries' regulators responsible for capital markets and digital asset regulation.
The working group will focus on short- and medium-term cooperation options during the development of digital asset legislation and regulatory regimes, while working to "reduce the cross-border financing burden on UK and US companies". The working group will submit a recommendation report within 180 days.
