President Donald Trump said on Saturday local time that he had appointed his former lawyer, Lindsey Halligan, as the federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of Virginia, after he pressured the attorney general to be more aggressive in holding political opponents accountable. "Pam Bundy is doing a great job as the attorney general of the United States. She is very cautious, very smart and loves our country, but needs a tough prosecutor for the Eastern District of Virginia, like I recommend Lindsey Halligan, to get the job done," Mr. Trump announced in a Truth Social post.
