Zuckerberg: I'd rather waste hundreds of billions of dollars than fall behind in AI

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's chief executive, says he is willing to invest heavily to ensure the company does not fall behind in AI. In a podcast broadcast on Thursday, he said an AI bubble was "very likely" but the bigger risk for Meta was hesitation: "If we end up wasting hundreds of billions of dollars, I think that's obviously very unfortunate. But what I'm saying is that I actually think the stakes are higher on the other side." If a company is moving too slowly and AI arrives sooner than expected, it will be "at a disadvantage in what I think is the most important technology that will enable most of the new products, innovations, value creation and history." Mr. Zuckerberg added: "The risk, at least for a company like Meta, is that it may not be aggressive enough, not a little too radical."
