Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, has urged the bitcoin community to accelerate action to guard against quantum attacks, arguing that a major breakthrough in quantum computing could come sooner than expected.
Speaking at the All-In 2025 summit posted to YouTube on Friday, Mr. Yakovenko said: "I feel there is a 50 per cent chance of a quantum computing breakthrough within five years." He added: "We should migrate Bitcoin to a quantum signature-resistant scheme."
Mr. Yakovenko, whose prediction is based on the convergence of multiple technologies and the alarming speed at which artificial intelligence is moving from research papers to real-world applications, said: "It's amazing and I would encourage everyone to move faster."
