NBA star Tristan Thompson has teamed up with Improbable CEO Herman Narula and co-founder Hadi Teherany to launch a Web3 basketball fan experience (player tokenization) platform called basketball.fun in October.
Built on Somnia, a layer of blockchain that went live on September 2, the platform will tokenize NBA players, whose value fluctuates in real time based on sentiment and performance. Fans can form lineups, speculate on emerging talent, and earn rewards based on predictions and engagement.
Teherany said that the app will not launch native tokens, but will instead focus on infrastructure, gamification, and fan empowerment.
