S & P: Bank of England's quantitative tightening plan unlikely to disrupt UK financing conditions

In a report, S & P Global Ratings said the Bank of England's programme of quantitative tightening - the process by which the central bank gradually reduces its holdings of bonds bought during the quantitative easing period - was unlikely to disrupt the UK's funding environment. The Bank of England set up an "on-demand repo facility" to provide liquidity support to the UK financial system. "The logic behind the design of the on-demand facility is that the pace of quantitative tightening should not affect the supply of reserves," S & P said.
