Powell: The impact of tariffs on consumers has been minimal so far

Fed Chairperson Jerome Powell said on Wednesday that the tariffs had so far had had little impact on consumer price increases, with the costs mostly being absorbed by companies in the middle of the supply chain. "Obviously, there is some passing," Powell said at a news conference after the Fed's most recent policy meeting. Businesses that trade will "tell you that they fully intend to pass on the effects [of tariffs] in time, and they're not doing that right now."
