The class-action lawsuit against TaskUs in New York has been amended to include new allegations of systemic security failures and concealment related to the Coinbase customer data breach.
The amended indictment, filed in federal court for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday, adds important details previously disclosed about the handling of Coinbase customer data in the massive breach - from its origins in late 2024 to Coinbase's final disclosure in May, with losses estimated at up to $400 million.
A Coinbase spokesperson said: "This was a criminal bribery scheme that began in late 2024 and used external vendors and a small number of Coinbase Customer Experience (CX) employees located outside the US to commit social engineering fraud against less than 1 per cent of monthly active trading users."
