As of September 16, 2025, there are about 2.5 million ETH (worth about $11.25 billion) in the Ethereum network validator exit queue waiting to exit. The current exit waiting time has reached 46 days, setting a record for the highest time since the implementation of the Ethereum proof of stake mechanism.
The congestion began on September 9, when infrastructure service provider Kiln exited all verification nodes due to the recent security incident, pushing about 1.6 million ETH into the queue at one time. In addition, the ETH price has risen by more than 160% since April, some pledgers have chosen to take profits, and institutions are also adjusting their asset allocation, exacerbating the exit pressure.
Despite the surge in exit demand, validators entering the queue remained stable. Analysts pointed out that a large amount of exit funds may be re-pledged, and if 75% of the funds are returned, it will be superimposed with ETF subscription demand, resulting in a significant extension of activation queue delays in the coming months.
