UK government: US companies plan to invest more than 1.25 billion pounds in UK financial services sector

The British government announced on Saturday that the private sector from the United States will invest more than 1.25 billion pounds (about $1.69 billion) in the UK financial services sector, including PayPal, Bank of America, Citigroup and S & P Global. The statement said the new US investment will create 1,800 jobs in the UK and bring greater convenience to millions of customers. The statement also noted that the agreement has boosted trade between the two countries by 20 billion pounds, including an additional £7 billion commitment that BlackRock is expected to make in the UK. According to the statement, Bank of America will create up to 1,000 new jobs in Belfast, its first operation in Northern Ireland; Citigroup will invest 1.10 billion pounds in its UK operations; and S & P Global will invest 4 million pounds in Manchester, creating 200 permanent jobs.
