On September 13, according to documents seen by Reuters, Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook declared the Atlanta, Georgia property to lenders as a "vacation home" when she purchased it. This could help refute the Trump administration's allegations of mortgage fraud against her. The document, dated May 28, 2021, was issued by Cook's credit union a few weeks before the purchase was completed, showing that she had informed lenders that the Atlanta property was not her primary residence. Two independent real estate experts pointed out that this is at odds with other documents cited by Trump administration officials, which claim that Cook declared "primary residence" at the same time at two properties in Michigan and Georgia. In addition, Cook never applied for a primary residence tax deduction for the Georgia property, as confirmed by Fulton County tax officials and property records.
