Tether is launching USAT, a US dollar-backed stablecoin that it plans to issue under the US regulatory framework, and has appointed Bo Hines as the future CEO of Tether USAT.
USAT will adhere strictly to US GENIUS Act regulatory standards and be backed by a transparent reserve, designed to provide businesses and institutions with a digital alternative to cash and traditional payment systems. The stablecoin will use Tether's Hadron technology platform, with federally regulated crypto bank Anchorage Digital as the compliance issuer and Cantor Fitzgerald as the designated reserve custodian.
Paolo Ardoino, chief executive of Tether, said the launch of USAT was a natural step in ensuring the dollar remained dominant in the digital age. Bo Hines, a former executive director of the White House Crypto Council, has legal, business and policy expertise.
