Apple is developing artificial intelligence chips for data centers

Apple (AAPL. O) has been working on its own chips for running artificial intelligence software on servers in its data centers, a move that could give the company a key edge in the artificial intelligence race. The server chip project is internally codenamed ACDC (Apple Chips in Data Center), according to people familiar with the matter. The ACDC project has been underway for several years, and it is uncertain when the new chips will be available, if at all. Apple has promised to unveil several new artificial intelligence products at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. (Wall Street Journal)
