The US economy is showing some signs of stress after years of resilience, with domestic demand slowing and job growth decelerating, according to the international monetary fund. Julie Kozak, IMF spokeswoman, said on Thursday that inflation was heading towards the Federal Reserve's 2 per cent target but that there were still some risks that could push inflation higher, mainly from the Trump administration's tariffs on imports. She noted that the US employment data published earlier this week had been revised "slightly more than the historical average". IMF staff will assess the data and revisions with US officials during their regular review of the US economy in November.
