JPMorgan expects U.S. share buybacks to add another $600 billion to this year's record $1.50 trillion. In just eight months, global buybacks have reached $1.37 trillion last year, implying a potential $1.90 trillion in 2025, a 38% increase. Despite strong trading volumes, buybacks relative to market capitalization remain below their historic peaks (2.6% in 2007 and 5% in 2007). While IPO activity is lackluster, record share buybacks are reducing the supply of shares for the fourth consecutive year, continuing to support the market.
