According to CCTV News, the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of the Inspector General announced in a statement that it has launched a review to assess the challenges the Bureau of Labor Statistics faces in the process of collecting and reporting economic data. The Office of the Inspector General pointed out in the statement that the Bureau of Labor Statistics previously announced that it will reduce data collection on two inflation indicators that are key to the U.S. economy, namely the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Producer Price Index (PPI). In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recently made a significant downward revision of its estimate of the number of new jobs added in its monthly Employment Situation Report.
