Linea, the Ethereum Layer2 network built by Consensys, opened its native asset LINEA on Wednesday through a token generation event (TGE), and opened a 90-day claim window that runs until December 9. The TGE includes more than 9.36 billion LINEA tokens allocated to eligible addresses, and unclaimed tokens will be returned to the Linea Alliance Ecosystem Fund to support Linea and the Ethereum ecosystem. The project took a snapshot of eligibility in July and launched the query portal last week. The project said that users must use the same address that holds the balance of LXP/LXP-L tokens to claim.
The previously announced distribution framework shows that 85% of the token supply will be allocated to the ecosystem, including 10% fully unlocked to early users and developers, and 75% of the ecological fund. The fund is overseen by the Linea Alliance, whose members include Consensys, Eigen Labs, ENS, SharpLink Gaming, and Status. The token does not have teams or VCs to allocate shares, and will not be used for on-chain governance. Instead, like-minded institutions will jointly decide on the strategic direction.
