PredictIt, an academic platform originally focused on political forecasting, is preparing to launch a new exchange after receiving approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Aristotle, the Washington DC company that operates PredictIt, said last week that the CFTC had approved its application to operate as a "Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organisation (DCO) ".
"With these approvals, Aristotle will launch a new exchange designed to provide US traders with more diverse markets, deeper liquidity and broader participation," the company said in a press release last week.
The company plans to expand beyond political markets, but has yet to provide details on what types of markets it will launch. "Market offerings will expand like other DCMs," said a spokesperson for Aristotle, referring to other regulated prediction markets such as Kalshi. "We do not plan to release other specific details at this time."
