Coinbase, the US cryptocurrency exchange, has launched the "x402 Bazaar", the first discovery layer for AI agents, known as the proxy "search engine". The platform provides a unified entry point for autonomous AI agents to help them automatically find, interact and pay for new services, thus enabling them to self-evolve.
Previously, AI agent functions were limited by developer presets and were slow to scale. The x402 Bazaar breaks this bottleneck, enabling agents to automatically access financial data, invoke image and video generation tools, and even book shows or manage business processes. Coinbase says this will promote the popularity of "self-improving AI agents", and the emergence of AI companies that can operate independently in the future.
The x402 Bazaar is built on top of the x402 protocol, an open payment protocol developed by Coinbase, which supports instant payment of stablecoins through HTTP, eliminating the account and subscription process, enabling AI agents to independently discover and pay for services in application scenarios.
