Dutch lithography machine maker ASML. O has announced an investment of 1.30 billion euros in French artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI as part of a strategic partnership. According to a statement released on Tuesday, ASML will become Mistral's largest shareholder with a shareholding ratio of 11%.
The investment is part of Mistral's 1.70 billion Euro funding round, valuing it at around 11.70 billion euros, making it one of the most valuable private companies in Europe. The alliance provides the only business in Europe with the strength to challenge AI giants such as OpenAI with support from Europe's largest and most influential technology companies. However, ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said the main purpose of the deal is to integrate AI within the company. He noted that the investment and collaboration will enable the company to integrate Mistral's generative AI services into its devices and operations. (Golden Ten)
