On September 9, the Murdoch family, which is worth $24.40 billion and ranked 87th on the world's richest list, has reached a settlement of a family trust lawsuit that holds a controlling stake in its two major media holding companies, Fox and News Corporation. Eldest son Lachlan Murdoch took over the family empire. Under the settlement, Murdoch's three other children - second son James, eldest daughter Prudence and second daughter Eliza - will no longer be beneficiaries of the trust. Based on the current price of Fox and News Corporation shares, they will receive a gain of about $1.40 billion from the sale of Class B shares. According to the statement, a family-controlled holding company controlled by Lachlan will own 36.2% of Fox's Class B shares and 33.1% of News Corp's Class B shares.
