According to Coindesk, in late August, the illiquidsupply (the amount of bitcoin held by entities with little spending history) exceeded 14.30 million BTC, a record high.
Over the past 30 days, the net increase in illiquid supply has reached 20,000 BTC. Of the 19.90 million BTC currently in circulation, about 72% of the total supply is illiquid, held by entities such as long-term holders and cold storage investors. The increase underscores the continuing trend of accumulation even during recent market volatility. Bitcoin hit a record high of $124,000 in mid-August before retreating by about 15%. Despite the price correction, illiquid supply continued to rise, indicating that holders are not selling due to the short-term correction.
