On September 7, OPEC + representatives said that OPEC + has agreed in principle to increase production again in October. In a video conference call on Sunday, key members said they expected to approve an increase of about 137,000 barrels per day. The increase means that OPEC +, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia, will begin to phase out the next 1.66 million barrels per day of production cuts, after the organization unexpectedly completed the restoration of the previous round of production cuts ahead of schedule. The October increase will start the process of restoring the 1.66 million barrels per day production cut, which was originally planned to be implemented until the end of 2026. Some delegates added that the relevant discussions are still ongoing.
