New Zealand's FMA launches tokenization consultation to explore regulatory hurdles

The Financial Marekt Authority of New Zealand (FMA) opened a tokenization consultation until the end of October to determine whether current regulations are hindering the development of tokenization. This year, the agency has received a large number of tokenization inquiries, but few projects have been implemented. It pointed out that tokenization is now biased towards already regulated institutions. Startups around the world have also turned to less regulated overseas markets due to high licensing costs, high barriers, or a tendency to operate outside of regulation.
