Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has called for a clearer crypto framework

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has instructed lawmakers to create transparent rules for the country's cryptocurrency market. Lukashenko noted that in 2023, he "issued a series of instructions to ensure comprehensive regulation of the field of digital tokens and cryptocurrencies". He was referring to Belarusian Presidential Decree No. 80, which calls for the development of a national crypto framework. The role of government entities as well as government-backed IT Special Economic Zones high-tech parks in the cryptocurrency industry must be clarified. Previously, Lukashenko had instructed his energy minister in March to start developing the country's cryptocurrency mining industry.
